we dream & organise for a future where first nations lands & island homes are protected & returned

support the next generation of Torres Strait climate leaders

Led by Our Islands, Our Home and backed by 350 Australia, Ailan Pawa (island power) supports young Torres Strait people to step into their power as climate leaders, advocating for urgent action to protect their island homes from the impacts of fossil fuels and climate damage.

We call these leaders Ailan Ambassadors and provide training, workshops and advocacy opportunities that strengthen their skills, connections and confidence in campaigning, activism and impact storytelling.

Our Story

350.org was founded in 2008 by Bill McKibben and a group of university friends. The name stems from 350 parts per million which is the safe upper limit of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to preserve a liveable planet.

Today, we are a global network of grassroots organisations that train and empower 400+ local groups around the world and more than 10,000 people each year to become climate leaders.

350 is known for pioneering the global fossil fuel divestment movement which has helped push institutions to divest over $30 trillion from climate pollution, coal, oil, and gas.

350 Australia is a grassroots movement of over 60,000 people with local groups across the country. We are proud to host two First Nations-led climate and land justice campaigns: Our Islands, Our Home and Protect Larrakia Country.

Some of our highlights over the last decade include:

  • Organising to get eight Australian universities and CommBank to divest from fossil fuels

  • Working in solidarity with the historic Pacific Climate Warriors’ blockade of the Newcastle coal port and Torres Strait 8 UN human rights case

  • Securing commitments from Australian banks to not fund Adani’s huge new coal mine in the Galilee Basin

  • Securing $77m in climate resilience for the Torres Strait

  • Electrifying 14 councils in NSW, representing 30% of state’s the population
