End fuel subsidies for big mining companies

Our vision is for a healthy planet supporting thriving communities, not billionaire's bank accounts.

But big polluting mining companies are making huge profits and benefiting from subsidised diesel fuel. Coal giant BHP got $622 million in public money from this fuel rebate last year. It's outrageous. If the government capped the scheme at $50 million per company, the biggest mining companies would pay tax while still allowing farmers to access a rebate. It's a policy shift that just makes sense.

Write your own email to your MP calling on them to cut the diesel fuel tax credit.

TIPS FOR WRITING YOUR EMAIL

  • Ask them to cut the diesel tax credit for big miners by capping it at $50 million per company

  • Tell them big mining companies shouldn't be getting public money to operate

  • If you drive a diesel car — let them know that you're paying full price for diesel and ask why big polluters are getting a tax break

  • Say you support small businesses and farmers being supported by this policy, it just needs to cut out the big mining companies

  • Ask them to get back to you with your MPs position on this.

Together, let’s make sure public money is going to support communities, not big mining companies.
